"from the cradle to the crypt, it's a mighty short trip" -Steve Goodman
A few years ago, we were in a pool in Key West just after sunset. A withered old man from the cruise ship docked nearby came through the pool area. A nurse carried his portable oxygen tank, and steadied him as he shuffled by. As usual, we were being a little rowdy. Our friend "G" noticed he had walked up, and apologized for the noise. He took a deep breath and said, "Don't worry about it. You're young, enjoy life. It's later than you think." Then he moved on.
Of course, we thought 'you're young' was pretty hilarious, but he had a point. It wasn't that long ago that he was the one in the pool, and someone else was being led around. So, as Carl Martin tells us,"from the cradle to the crypt, it's a mighty short trip, so you better get it while you can". Not bad advice. Enjoy life. It's later than you think.
